The wonderful blog My Year Without Sugar just alerted me to a new food pyramid made just down the road from me, at Harvard.
Here's a low-res picture of it:
I just printed out a higher-resolution version in color here to hang up in my classroom.
Any thoughts? I love it! The old food pyramid let people get away with eating a ton of white carbs and red meat if they wanted to. This one emphasizes whole grains, vegetables, and healthy proteins. Yay!!!

How great! Thanks for sharing - I'd not seen it.
ReplyDeletecool the only thing is that i love meat. I would die if I could not have a big old steak. but thats just me. I liked your story and found it to have good info.
ReplyDeletethanks
That's great!
ReplyDeleteMom and Beth - glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeletemo_inoh - Yeah, loving meat can be a problem. I was never a huge meat fan, with occasional exceptional cravings. I do know lots of vegan meat-lovers; though - they have found substitutes that are acceptable to them. Anyway, I think that being vegan(ish) has great benefits, and eating very healthy 95% of the time (cheating occasionally) is likely as good as eating very healthy 100% of the time.
inspiring
ReplyDeleteHopefully you will print out the updated version of the Pyramid. Check back at my site to see the correct version of Harvard's Pyramid. The first version I had was a mistake. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience!!
ReplyDeleteI think you will very much like this new version!
(The new version shows on your blog, but I wanted to make sure you updated any print-outs/posters...again, so sorry for my mistake!!)
